I remember Weber slamming Zetterberg's head into the boards during that playoff series with Nashville. I completely lost all respect for him after that. What a gutless punk. I remember Todd Bertuzzi dropping the gloves with Weber at the start of the next season. Was hoping Weber would get bell rocked but the fight was fairly even.

The Wings do need some more sandpaper and toughness (along with some size). I've noticed in the last year or so Rasmussen seems to get in the scrums quite a bit more. He may as well use that size to his advantage if he needs to.

Watching the Griffins the last few years... you simply did not see that stuff when McIlrath was on the ice. Other teams knew there'd be a price to pay. Intimidation is still a part of the game... and it can deter some players taking liberties with your best players.

THe thing is, there have been numerous infractions both for and against the Wings that never went called. I'm of the opinion when someone does something blatantly, they need to be punished. Lemieux v Draper was suspension-worthy, McCarty head-hunting the same. BUT....the head-shot from Gudas to Glennie last year, and the shots that Larkin took are truly unacceptable. DOPS is an entity in name only, they have no regard for player safety. You hit the nail on the head; if it's McDavid, Katie bar the door...someone's going to jail! Can't have the face of the NHL hurt, now can we?!?!?!?

The league should be embarrassed.....but they just don't care.
